Solar Power In Remote Locations

Off-Grid Solar Electric Power Systems are independent from utility supplied power lines. Solar Photovoltaic Panels will generate DC electricity when the sun is shining and is stored in batteries. The stored electricity can then be converted to AC to be used for any of the appliances in the home either day or night.

Wind, hyro-electric or gas turbines can also be connected to your system to offer supplemental power. Solar electric systems are a very robust, long-lasting system. Fixed arrays have no moving parts and therefore there is little maintenance.

Our off-grid solar kits offer a system that has been pre-engineered to meet your needs, with all of the parts and instructions you will need to install your own system in 1 day.

SOLAR KIT COMPONENTS:

SOLAR MODULES: The number of solar modules for each kit size are indicated in the table. The solar panels are manufactured by Worldwide Energy and Manufacturing, Inc. and are Model#: Amerisolar AS-6M 180W monosilicon panels. They are available with a white or black backing. They have a 25 yr performance guarantee. These modules also have all necessary certifications worldwide.
The Solar Cells used in these modules are high efficiency solar cells which ensure high performance of the solar module and create maximum power output. Low-Iron Tempered Glass: High transmittance glass with an Anti-reflective coating. Dimensions: 32.5” x 62”.


INVERTER: The inverters are sized for each system and are efficient, pure sine wave inverters designed specifically for the most demanding renewable energy applications. They are available with 120 VAC or 230VAC output to be compatible with various appliance requirements around the world.


COMBINER BOX AND WIRING: A combiner box, circuit breaker and extra wiring is also included in your kit to complete your system.


CHARGE CONTROLLER: This component is critical in the off-grid system because it will extend the life of your batteries. Charge controllers sense the battery state of charge by monitoring its voltage. It’s primary duty is to limit, and eventually shut off input as the battery approaches full. They also convert a higher voltage DC output from solar panels down to the lower voltage needed to charge batteries. Our charge controllers also use the innovative new MPPT technology (Maximum Power Point Tracking) to maximize your system’s output. MPPT controllers typically extract about 15% more energy year round. They do their best work in winter, up to 30% boost, when PV temperatures are low, and battery voltages are generally lower.


MOUNTING OPTIONS: Each Kit is available with 3 different mounting options: 1) Roof-top, 2) Ground Mount, 3) Pole Mount. For the Roof-mount option, Aluminum Rails are included with each kit along with end and mid clamps for the modules. Splices and Grounding WEEBs also supplied. This racking can be attached to a standard pitched or flat roof. The Ground-Mount Option is a fixed array installed on the ground using our aluminum rails, tilt legs, clamps, splices and grounding. The Pole Mount Option is a solar array that is elevated up off the ground on a single pole. This is sometimes necessary to keep the solar panels away from vegetation that may grow up around the solar modules or to keep animals away from the system. This option comes with the pole, rails, clamps and grounding components. (Please contact us for other options.)


BATTERIES: Trojan Batteries used in our kits are a Dual-Purpose AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery that is Maintenance Free! Trojan has over 80 years of battery experience and offer great performance and quality. They have High-rate discharge and recharge capability and require not re-filling. We use 12 volt batteries for our kits. Provided instructions explain how to wire these systems for a 12V, 24V and 48V system depending on the system size you have. Extra Battery cables provided.
